Awarii Dunes Golf Club opened for play in 2011. The course was designed by Jim Engh.
The Awarii Dunes Golf Course was inspired by the great Link Courses of Ireland. Awarii Dunes Golf Club plays to almost 7,000 yards was built on sand hills created by nature, not man. The course winds through, around, and sometimes up and over these dunes. Less than 30,000 yards of dirt were moved to create the golf course. Awarii Dunes Golf Club is wild and windy, lots of sand, dunes and mounds, long prairie grasses lining and interspersing the fairways, and some blind shots. The greens are huge complexes, sloping, and undulating, and tiered. One double green is 35,000 square feet - and the fairways are as wide as 90 yards. On tees, fairways and greens, T-1 bentgrass is used which plays hard and fast. There is no intermediate rough - just fairways and native rough.
